What a differential is for

A differential is not a cheap player or an obscure one. It is a player who moves you *relative to the field*. If 40% of managers own someone, his double-digit haul does not gain you rank — it just stops you losing it. Everything below is under 5% owned.

De Cuyper heads the list: 1.68 expected involvements from 77 minutes at 3.5% ownership. At £4.5m he is cheap enough to be a squad-filler rather than a bet you have to justify.

Under-ownership is a fact about other managers, not a quality in the player. Every name here is under 5% owned for a reason — the question is whether that reason is still true.
